NewRe, the reinsurance arm of Swiss insurance company Munich Re, has announced that Leonid Rousniak has joined the company as Senior Structurer. Rousniak will be responsible for supporting NewRe’s structured reinsurance business and will report to the Head of Structured Reinsurance. With extensive experience in reinsurance and capital markets, Rousniak’s appointment will further strengthen NewRe’s capabilities in the area of structured reinsurance.

Zurich Insurance Group has announced its withdrawal from the Net Zero Insurance Alliance, following Munich Re’s earlier withdrawal. The Net Zero Insurance Alliance is a global initiative aimed at promoting the insurance industry’s leadership in addressing climate change. Zurich Insurance stated that its commitment to achieving net zero carbon goals remains unchanged, and it will continue to play an active role in climate change and sustainability. However, the decision to withdraw from the alliance was made to focus on internal climate strategies and targets.
